Present for the Teacher

I am full of bright ideas, I really am. I have such good intentions, all the things I am going to do, sometimes when it comes to the actual execution of these things I am faced with the confronting reality of what a dreamer I am. As I have blogged before, sometimes,  it is  more fun to sit on the couch imagining the things you are going too do, that the ahem......actual doing.

Last day of school today, early finish at lunchtime,  this meant that last night, predictably leaving things to the very last minute,  I was up till 1am, executing a couple of the grand schemes  designed from said couch. It did start  off a fun night, John was working and I got Millie and Jack to bed nice and early,  Ben and I were having a grand old time listening to carols and baking. We had about an hour of this golden one on one time, that he needs so much. Then Millie woke up, once, twice, three times, in the end I did not have the capacity to fight her and get everything done, so at 9.30 I had a marauding toddler on the loose and about twenty more cake pops to decorate, my attention to detail got markedly less accurate and the evening progressed.

The printables were downloaded from this lovely blog

But we got there in the end, Ben was SO proud of his haul at school this morning, and he could honestly say that he made them too, this was important to him. I was perhaps a tad ambitious deciding I would make forty reindeer pops, Bakerella I am not, BUT we did it , there was some fun in the mix and they turned out okay.

I love giving presents, at Christmas I am far more interested in the giving that the receiving ( this might be related to the activity of getting to shop for the presents) . I agonized a fair bit over what to get Ben's teacher, he has had a fabulous year, a lot of this is down to her, she has been a wonderfully creative and encouraging influence for him. A few weeks ago she mentioned a love of Babushka's,  so I was very  happy to find  this beautiful Christmas decoration made by Maisy Moo on Felt. I also got this beautiful clip off Felt too. For both and her and Jack's teacher I made a box of white chocolate, cranberry, pistachio and oat cookies, they make a good Christmas standby. I am happy with how it all came together.

While we are on the subject of gifts, I posted this off to John's friend Caroline last week, she has two little girls and they are interested in how other cultures celebrate Christmas. I wanted to send some actual hokey pokey, but I could not find any anywhere. I thought this Wallace Cotton Starship fundraiser tea towel was a good ring in.

As you can see our Christmas spirit is gaining momentum, and NO MORE SCHOOL for 6 weeks and soon some Canadian Geese will be flying South, to say we are excited is an understatement. We can't wait!

Can't believe we will be there with you all soon. xoxo

You made lovely things! I wasn't really feeling the Christmas spirit this year and then got a nasty flu during the last week of school so a few things didn't happen. Sometimes it's good to let things go I think (or talk your husband into making the gingerbread house).
